Weekly fishing reports at http://www.thefisherman.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=directory.category&PDIR=74
By all local accounts it looks as though the surf bite on stripers along the North/Central Jersey coast should continue through to the New Year. Even in the Monday’s rain and Wednesday’s snow we were still getting reports of casters from Monmouth to Southern Ocean County hitting up short stripers in the wash on sand eel imitations with teasers. At “dealers only” tackle show in Atlantic City this week we also heard that jetties in Atlantic and Cape May County were also holding small stripers apt to hit a plastic or two, perhaps just not with the same intensity for fish or fishermen as in the north! Just 2-1/2 weeks left to get in on the sea bass action, and an 8.12-pounder leads the way in this week’s party boat reports (best action for the sea bass at this point is 40 to 60 miles out so a comfy ride on a larger hull is a great way to go). Blackfish should stick to the nearshore reefs and wrecks for a little while longer as toggers look to score a personal best before the year runs out.
