Blackfishing remains solid in many areas but there is a definite movement now to deeper water structure. Sea bass action remains excellent at Block Island and South Shore open boats making offshore wreck trips are reporting limit catches of jumbos. Increasing numbers of cod are mixing with sea bass and porgies on the East End, and some are also showing up on offshore wreck trips. Loads of small stripers from 18 to 27 inches continue to flood South Shore waters from Southampton to Rockaway Inlet and beyond, as well as portions of Long Island Sound. Herring are pretty much missing from the picture with the exception of one North Shore report, while some squid were reported on some piers and docks inside Huntington Bay. Surf fishermen continue to have a ball with the hordes of schoolies running South Shore and West End beaches.
